The National Day holiday, also known as Golden Week, is a cherished time for many, a period brimming with opportunities for travel, relaxation, and of course, photography. For an outdoor enthusiast like myself, it's a chance to escape the urban hustle and capture the breathtaking beauty of nature, imbued with the festive spirit of the nation. This year, I planned my Golden Week around maximizing my photographic opportunities, targeting diverse landscapes and leveraging the unique light conditions of this special time of year.

My first destination was the breathtaking Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan province. Famous for its towering sandstone pillars and misty valleys, the park offered endless photographic possibilities. The challenge, however, lay in navigating the crowds. Golden Week brings a surge of tourists, making finding secluded spots for capturing pristine landscapes a demanding task. My strategy involved waking up before dawn. The pre-dawn light cast an ethereal glow on the iconic Hallelujah Mountain, painting the rock formations in shades of gold and orange. The absence of the midday crowds allowed me to focus on composition, experimenting with different perspectives and using a wide-angle lens to capture the sheer scale of the landscape.
