Understand the basics of photographic composition and lighting in outdoor settings.
Apply photographic techniques to capture the dynamic movement and artistry of ballet.
Experiment with different photographic styles and perspectives.
Develop a deeper appreciation for the connection between dance, nature, and artistic expression.
Collaborate effectively with a dancer and photographer to create compelling images.
Edit and post-process their photographs to enhance their visual impact.

Workshop Structure (Full Day):

Morning (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Introduction and Photography Fundamentals
9:00 - 9:30 AM: Welcome and introductions. Icebreaker activities to foster collaboration and build rapport among participants.
9:30 - 10:30 AM: Introduction to photography concepts: composition (rule of thirds, leading lines, symmetry), lighting (natural light, golden hour), and camera settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). Hands-on practice with provided cameras (if needed) in a controlled environment.
10:30 - 12:00 PM: Introduction to basic ballet poses and movements relevant to photography. A professional ballet instructor will guide participants through simple poses that highlight lines and movement, emphasizing stillness and fluidity. Participants will practice poses in front of a simple backdrop, allowing photographers to practice capturing these elements.

Afternoon (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Outdoor Photography Session & Collaboration
12:00 - 1:00 PM: Lunch break – a picnic lunch will be provided, fostering informal interaction and networking among participants.
1:00 - 3:00 PM: Outdoor photography session at a pre-selected location (e.g., a park, botanical garden, or scenic overlook). Participants will work in pairs or small groups, with one person acting as the photographer and the other as the ballet dancer. The instructor will provide guidance and feedback on composition, posing, and technical aspects of photography. The emphasis will be on capturing dynamic movements and conveying emotion.
3:00 - 4:00 PM: Post-processing and review. A brief session on basic photo editing techniques using readily available software (e.g., Lightroom Mobile, Snapseed) will be provided. Participants will share their favorite photos and receive constructive criticism from the instructors and fellow participants. This will include a discussion about artistic choices and how the environment influenced the final images.

Materials and Equipment:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphones). A limited number of cameras will be available for loan.
Comfortable clothing suitable for both photography and movement is recommended.
