Epic Outdoor Wedding Photoshoot: A Live Photography Adventure223

Hey everyone, and welcome to my live stream! Today's adventure? We're capturing some breathtaking outdoor wedding photos for the lovely couple, Sarah and Mark. I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement – the location is stunning, the weather's cooperating (fingers crossed it stays this way!), and Sarah and Mark are radiating happiness. This is going to be epic.

For those of you new to the channel, I'm Alex, a passionate landscape and adventure photographer. I love nothing more than capturing spontaneous moments and stunning scenery, and today’s shoot perfectly combines both! We’re shooting in Redwood National Park, California, a place I’ve dreamed of capturing a wedding in for years. The towering redwoods provide an incredible natural backdrop, and the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy is just magical. We’re aiming for a romantic, slightly rustic, and utterly awe-inspiring feel for the photos.

Sarah and Mark are a truly amazing couple. They met while hiking in Yosemite, so choosing a natural setting for their wedding photos was a no-brainer. They're both incredibly adventurous and easy-going, which makes my job so much easier. They’re totally up for anything, and that’s essential when you’re shooting in a location like this. We’ve planned a few key locations, but we’re also embracing spontaneity – if we stumble upon something incredible, we’re going for it!

Before we get started, let's talk gear. For this shoot, I'm mainly using my trusty Canon EOS R5. Its incredible low-light performance is a lifesaver in the shaded areas under the redwood canopy. I'm also using a variety of lenses: a 24-70mm f/2.8 for versatility, a 70-200mm f/2.8 for those stunning compressed perspectives and portraits, and a 16-35mm f/2.8 for capturing the grand scale of the redwood forest. I’ve got a couple of speedlights for fill flash in the shaded areas, and of course, my trusty tripod for those long-exposure shots – we might try a few star trails later if we have time, depending on the light.

Lighting is crucial in any outdoor shoot, and especially today. We're working with natural light predominantly, but understanding how the sunlight interacts with the redwoods is key. The dappled light creates beautiful bokeh and interesting shadows, which adds a lot of depth and texture to the images. We're avoiding harsh midday sun as much as possible, aiming for the golden hour light at the beginning and end of the day for that warm, romantic glow.

Okay, let's get a look at Sarah and Mark! They're looking absolutely stunning. Sarah's dress is ethereal and flows beautifully in the breeze, and Mark looks dashing in his suit. The combination of the natural setting and their attire is perfect. We're going to start with some romantic shots amidst the giant redwoods. I'm going to be focusing on capturing their connection, their laughter, and those spontaneous moments that tell their story.

(*Live footage of the photoshoot is shown here, interspersed with Alex's commentary.*) We're moving now to a clearing with a stunning vista point overlooking a valley. The light is just incredible here, bathing the scene in a soft, golden glow. This is going to be perfect for some wide shots showcasing the scale of the location and the couple’s happiness against this grand backdrop. I’m using a wider aperture here to blur the background and focus on Sarah and Mark.

Now, a little behind-the-scenes action. Working with couples in a natural setting requires a lot of flexibility and patience. Sometimes, the wind can be a challenge, especially with Sarah’s flowing dress. We’re having a bit of fun with it, though! It adds a certain dynamism to the shots. We're also having to be mindful of the terrain – it’s not always easy walking in these redwood forests!

(*More live footage of the photoshoot.*) We're approaching a small, cascading creek now. The sound of the water is incredibly peaceful, and it offers another stunning backdrop for some intimate shots. The reflection of the redwoods in the creek adds another layer of visual interest. I'm going to try a long exposure here to smooth the water and create a sense of calm. Remember that proper composition is key! I'm using the rule of thirds and leading lines to guide the viewer's eye to Sarah and Mark.

As the day progresses, the light is starting to change, the golden hour is fast approaching. This is the magic hour! The light becomes softer, warmer, and more forgiving. It casts long shadows and creates a truly romantic atmosphere. We're using this opportunity to capture some more intimate, close-up shots of Sarah and Mark sharing a moment, embracing the beauty of their surroundings.

(*More live footage.*) We're wrapping up now. The sunset is painting the sky in vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. It’s the perfect ending to a perfect day. I'm so happy with the photos we’ve captured, and I think Sarah and Mark are equally thrilled. This shoot has been an absolute dream come true, a perfect blend of adventure, photography, and love.
