Small Group Climbing Games for Preschoolers322

In a previous article, we shared group games for your preschoolers. Climbing activities are another great way to teach kids about safety, coordination, and so much more. Plus, climbing is just plain fun! Here are some small group climbing games that you can try with your young children.

1. Animal Obstacle Course

Create an obstacle course using cones, tunnels, and other climbing equipment. Have the children pretend to be different animals as they navigate the course.

For example, they can:

* Crawl like a bear through a tunnel
* Hop like a bunny over a pile of cones
* Climb like a monkey up a climbing structure

2. Follow the Leader

Have the children line up behind a leader. The leader leads the group through a series of climbing movements, such as:

* Climbing up a ladder
* Crawling through a tunnel
* Sliding down a slide
* Jumping over a hurdle

3. Climbing Race

Divide the children into two teams. Have each team line up at the bottom of the climbing structure. When you say go, the first person from each team races up the climbing structure and touches the top. The first team to have all of its members reach the top wins.

4. Simon Says Climb

Play Simon Says with a climbing twist. Give the children commands such as:

* Simon says climb up the ladder.
* Simon says crawl through the tunnel.
* Simon says slide down the slide.

Only follow the commands that start with "Simon says." If a child follows a command that doesn't start with "Simon says," they are out of the game.

5. Climbing Charades

Write down a list of climbing-related words or phrases. Have the children take turns acting out the words or phrases while the others guess.

Some examples include:

* Climbing a mountain
* Crawling through a tunnel
* Sliding down a slide
* Jumping over a hurdle

These are just a few ideas for small group climbing games for preschoolers. With a little creativity, you can come up with many other fun and educational games to play with your children.

Safety First

When playing climbing games with preschoolers, it is important to put safety first. Make sure that the climbing equipment is sturdy and age-appropriate. Supervise the children closely and be sure to spot them as they climb.
