Skiing, Backcountry, and Backcountry Office209
Snowmobiling can be quite the adventure. In fact, sometimes, you start out on an adventure and discover you’ve had your own adventure, all rolled into one. That’s what happened to us on a recent tour in Idaho. Our goal was to spend some time backcountry skiing in the mountains around Sun Valley, and to do a bit of work while we were there. We took our snowmobiles as transportation, in order to access areas where vehicle traffic is otherwise restricted. What an amazing experience it turned out to be!
The idea of backcountry skiing and working remotely in the snowy wilderness began over a year prior. At that time, I had been working a few months as a remote employee, and my wife and I were considering plans for a winter getaway. We had previously skied (downhill) near Sun Valley, but we wanted to go backcountry skiing. My wife is a much better skier than I am, but she agreed to join me, knowing it would be a lot of work for me, and not as much skiing for her.
One of my goals for this trip was to find a way to work from the backcountry. I have worked from a lot of different places, including my car, a coffee shop, and a park. I enjoy working outside, and I’m always looking for new and interesting ways to do it. We purchased a used snowmobile trailer on Craigslist so that we could haul our snowmobiles from California to Idaho and back. I figured I could work in the trailer while we were stopped for lunch or breaks.
We started our trip by spending a day skiing at Sun Valley. The next day, we met Mike, our snowmobile guide, and he led us on a tour of the backcountry. The terrain was beautiful, and the snow was perfect. We skied through trees, over rolling hills, and down steep chutes. We even got to see some wildlife, like elk and deer.
I was able to work for a few hours each day, and I found the experience to be very productive. I was able to focus on my tasks without distractions, and I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the mountains. I also found that I was more motivated to work when I was surrounded by such beautiful scenery.
One of the highlights of the trip was when we found a hot spring. We soaked in the warm water and relaxed our sore muscles. It was the perfect way to end a long day of skiing.
We had an amazing time on our backcountry skiing and backcountry office trip. It was a great way to experience the beauty of the mountains, and I was able to get some work done at the same time. I would definitely recommend this type of trip to anyone who loves the outdoors and who is looking for a new way to work remotely.
Here are a few tips for planning a backcountry skiing and backcountry office trip:Do your research. Make sure you know the area you're going to be skiing in, and check the weather forecast before you go.
Hire a guide. If you're not familiar with the area, hiring a guide is a good way to stay safe and make sure you have a good time.
Bring the right gear. Make sure you have all the necessary gear for skiing and camping, including a first-aid kit and a way to communicate with the outside world.
Be prepared for the weather. The weather in the mountains can change quickly, so it's important to be prepared for the worst. Bring extra layers of clothing, and make sure you have a way to stay warm if you get wet.
Be aware of the risks. Backcountry skiing can be dangerous, so it's important to be aware of the risks involved. Make sure you take all necessary precautions to stay safe.
